Medicare LCD (Local Coverage Determination) Information

Medicare and Department of Health & Human Services

"For chronic pain, the medical record must document the location of the pain, the duration of time the patient has had the pain, and the presumed etiology of the pain. The pain must have been present for at least three months. Other appropriate treatment modalities must have been tried and failed, and the medical record must document what treatment modalities have been used. The presumed etiology of the pain must be a type that is accepted as responding to TENS therapy. Examples of conditions for which a TENS unit are not considered to be medically necessary are (not all-inclusive): headache, visceral abdominal pain, pelvic pain, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain."

Office Visit First

Getting the ReBuilder through your doctor.Many people try the ReBuilder in their doctor's office, and then their physician prescribes the ReBuilder for a trial basis of one month with a follow up visit 30 to 60 days later to confirm that the ReBuilder is meeting the needs of the patient.

If you are inquiring about getting a ReBuilder without a physician's referral, we can help you secure the proper documentation from your physician.

Supplies

Refill ReBuilder supplies using your Medicare and/or Insurance benefits.Once your unit is approved by Medicare, your monthly supplies are provided.

Conductive garments like socks and gloves will need a separate prescription for each re-order, but can be replaced when medically necessary.

Other supplies like self adhesive pads and batteries will only require a phone call from you to us to send them right out under Medicare benefits.
